Every day, patients enter healthcare systems surrendering their power to a complex, often opaque machine, one shaped by corporate NHS structures, pharmaceutical interests, and insurance incentives that do not always align with patient welfare.
We have seen patients left unsure who was treating them, when the role of physician associates was not clearly distinguished from that of doctors at the bedside. We have witnessed surgical errors quietly buried and patient deaths that never reached the families who deserved the truth. We have watched NHS patients receive a lesser standard of care while private patients were prioritised in the same wards, by the same hands.
Kura exists to change this, not through confrontation, but through education. An informed patient cannot be so easily deceived. A patient who knows their rights cannot be so easily dismissed. A patient connected to a global community of advocates is never truly alone.
When the system prioritises its own functioning over the person in front of it, that is not care, and we are here to hand the power back.
Too often, patients are sent into the NHS blind, handed a diagnosis, a prescription, or a referral, but never told the questions worth asking, the records they already own, or the complaints route that exists when something goes wrong. The information is there; the system simply does not volunteer it. Kura exists to hand patients that information, so no one has to navigate their health in the dark, and so the power that has always belonged to patients finally feels like theirs to use.
